Boxing Club in Bahria Town, Islamabad & Rawalpindi

A real boxing corner with coaches who have cornered fighters — not one bag in the corner of a gym. Here is what it costs, when it runs and who trains here.

Raees Fitness & Boxing Gym runs a coached boxing club at both of its Bahria Town branches — Phase 7 (2nd floor, Wallayat Complex, Emirates Plaza, Islamabad side) and Phase 8 (1st floor, Burj Ul Sadiq, Abu Baker Avenue, Rawalpindi side). The boxing public class runs 6:00 to 7:00 pm, six days a week, and costs Rs 10,000 a month with a one-off Rs 20,000 registration fee. MMA runs 8:00 to 9:00 pm and karate 5:00 to 6:00 pm on the same terms. Complete beginners, women and competitive amateurs all train here, the gym floor itself is open 24 hours a day on all six open days, and there is a ladies-only window from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Most places in Islamabad and Rawalpindi that come up for "boxing gym near me" are ordinary gyms with a heavy bag screwed to a wall. You can hit it. Nobody will tell you that your feet are crossed, that your chin is up, or that the reason your shoulder hurts is the way you are turning the right hand over. That is not a boxing club; it is a bag.

A boxing club is a coach, a timetable, people at your level to work with, and a progression that takes you from standing still to moving under pressure. It is the difference between punching for ten months and boxing for ten months. We run one at both Bahria Town branches, and this page sets out exactly what you are joining.

What follows is the practical version: the fees with the registration fee shown rather than mentioned at reception, the timetable, the coaches by name, where the club has competed, what to bring on your first evening, and honest answers about sparring, kit, age and whether this is the right club for you at all.

Why this club

What makes it a boxing club rather than a bag

  • Coached, not supervised

Zahoor Abbas coaches boxing at the Phase 7 branch and Raees Ur Rehman, who owns the gym, is a head coach rather than an owner who appears at renewal time. Somebody is holding the pads and reading your form, every round.

  • A corner, not a bag

Heavy bags, pads, wraps, mitt work and enough floor to move and to spar properly. Footwork drills need space, and space is what most gyms with "boxing" on the signboard do not have.

  • The club competes

Members from this club have stood on the podium at the Punjab Games and the squad has taken team honours at the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Talent Hunt. Photographs of both are in the gallery, not a claim in a paragraph.

  • Beginners are the normal case

Most people who join have never thrown a punch. The first several weeks are stance, guard and footwork for everybody — nobody is dropped into a round on day one to see how they cope.

  • Women train here, and win

A women’s squad from this club trains, competes and medals. There is a ladies-only window on the gym floor from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, and women are in the evening boxing class too.

  • Two addresses, one membership

Phase 7 on the Islamabad side and Phase 8 on the Rawalpindi side, with the same coaching and identical rates. Your membership is with the club, not with one plaza — train at whichever is the shorter run that evening.

Who trains here

Six reasons people join, and what changes for each

The training is not the same for somebody chasing a bout and somebody who wants the hardest conditioning hour of their week. Say which you are at the induction.

You have never boxed

This is who the class is built around. You will spend the first weeks on stance, guard and footwork and throwing very few punches, which is frustrating in week one and obviously correct by week six. You need no fitness base to start — the conditioning is part of what you are coming for, not a prerequisite.

You want the fitness, not the fight

A large share of the club never spars and never intends to. Rounds on the bag and the pads are the hardest conditioning work most people will ever do, and they are interesting in a way that forty minutes on a treadmill is not. Nobody will push you towards a bout, and asking about "boxfit" style training will not get you talked into competing.

You want to defend yourself

Boxing is the most practical striking base there is, because the footwork and the guard matter more than the punches. The self-defence work layers situational awareness and escape on top of that base. It is open to complete beginners, including women and teenagers.

You want to compete as an amateur

The club has a competitive side and the coaches have cornered fighters. If you want bouts, say so at the induction — the training you get is then different from the training the fitness members get, and so is the sparring load.

You already box

If you have a base and want sparring partners, pad rounds with somebody who can actually hold and a coach who will tell you the truth about your defence, you can walk in and work. Visiting professionals have trained with us before.

You want it one-to-one

A boxing personal trainer is a separate arrangement from the public class — a Personal Class is Rs 30,000 a month and the hour is built entirely around you. Some members use it for a few months to fix fundamentals and then move into the group class.

Fees

What the boxing club costs, registration included

Published rather than quoted at reception. Identical at both branches.

ClassRegistrationMonthly
MMA Public ClassRs 20,000Rs 10,000per month
Boxing Public ClassRs 20,000Rs 10,000per month
Personal ClassRs 20,000Rs 30,000per month

The boxing public class is Rs 10,000 a month. There is a one-off registration fee of Rs 20,000 on the class packages, and we are putting it on the page rather than mentioning it when you arrive — it is the number people are annoyed to discover late, and "boxing club near me with fees" is a search people make for exactly that reason.

The MMA public class is the same Rs 10,000 a month on the same registration terms, and a one-to-one Personal Class is Rs 30,000 a month. Rates are identical at Phase 7 and Phase 8.

A boxing class membership and a gym floor membership are separate things. If you want the 24-hour weights and cardio floor as well, that starts at Rs 4,500 a month for strength only or Rs 6,000 for cardio and strength, and couple or group rates bring it to Rs 5,500 per person. Plenty of members hold both; plenty box only.

Timings

When the boxing club trains

Classes run to the clock. The gym floor does not close.

Ladies only

6 days a week, ladies only

The three coached classes run back to back in the evening, six days a week, closed on Sunday: karate 5:00 to 6:00 pm, boxing 6:00 to 7:00 pm, MMA 8:00 to 9:00 pm. They run to the clock because a class that drifts is a class people stop arriving on time for.

The gym floor itself is a different thing: open 24 hours a day on all six open days. So the common pattern is the boxing class at 6:00 pm and then bag or weights work at whatever hour suits — 6:00 am before work, or midnight after a shift.

If 6:00 pm does not work for you at all, the honest answer is that the group class is the group class. What is available instead is the Personal Class, which is arranged around your hours rather than ours.

The corner

Who is coaching you

Zahoor Abbas is the boxing coach at the Phase 7 branch. Raees Ur Rehman owns the gym and coaches on the floor rather than running it from an office — most members meet him in the first week. Anees Ur Rehman and Mazhar Khan coach at Phase 7, and Muhammad Hamza Khan and Frozan Ahmadzai coach at Phase 8, which means there is a female coach on the Phase 8 team for members who would rather train with one.

What the coaching actually consists of is correction while you are moving. A coach watching a round will stop you mid-combination because your weight went onto the front foot, and that is the entire value — a video cannot see your feet, and a mirror shows you the punch rather than the error that produced it.

We do not publish certification lists for the coaching team on this page, because a credential printed against a named person has to be the right one. Ask at the induction or on WhatsApp and you will be told, by name, who holds what.

The record

The club competes

The club is a competing club, which changes the standard of the room even for members who will never fight. A gym where somebody is preparing for a bout trains differently from one where nobody is.

A boxer from this club has taken the gold medal position on the podium at the Punjab Games. The squad has received team honours at the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Talent Hunt boxing tournament, and the women’s squad has come back from competition with medals and a winners’ trophy. Those are all photographed in the gallery — the bout shots, the podium, the trophy and the squad with their medals.

We are not going to put a medal tally or a fight record on this page. What is documented is what is in those photographs, and that is what we will stand behind. If you want the longer version, ask the coaches; they will tell you who fought where.

Women & girls

Boxing for women in Bahria Town

Women's boxing squad from the gym with their coaches and medals

Girls and women box at this club, and they compete. That is not a line added to a page — there is a women’s squad, it trains, and there are photographs of it holding a winners’ trophy at a Prime Minister’s Youth Programme event and standing with its medals after competition.

There are two ways to train here as a woman. The gym floor has a ladies-only window from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, six days a week, which is the quiet option: bag work, conditioning and the weights floor with no men in the room. The evening boxing class at 6:00 pm is mixed, and women train in it.

The Phase 8 branch has a female coach, Frozan Ahmadzai, on its team. If training with a female coach is the thing that decides whether you start at all, say so when you message and the induction will be arranged that way.

For parents asking about a daughter: the same progression applies, there is no sparring until defence holds up, and nothing about it is negotiable for a younger member. Come and watch a class before deciding — that is the normal way people join.

Starting out

Your first evening, step by step

  1. 1

Message first, do not just turn up

WhatsApp is the fastest way in. Say which branch is nearer, whether you have boxed before and roughly when you want to train, and you will be told which evening to come and who to ask for.

  2. 2

    Come and watch a class

You are welcome to stand at the side of a 6:00 pm class and watch the whole hour before paying anything. Most people who do that decide in the first twenty minutes, one way or the other.

  3. 3

    What to bring

Trainers you can move in, a t-shirt, water. Nothing else. You do not need your own gloves or wraps to start — buy your own kit once you know you are staying, and ask the coaches first so you do not waste the money.

  4. 4

    The induction

Every new member gets taken through the floor, the equipment and the class structure by a coach, and this is where you say what you are actually here for — fitness, self-defence, or bouts. The three produce different training.

Areas we serve

Where the club's members travel in from

Both branches sit inside Bahria Town, so most of these runs stay off the main city roads.

  • Bahria Town Phase 7

The main branch is here, on the 2nd floor of Wallayat Complex in Emirates Plaza. For Phase 7 residents the club is a walk or a very short drive.

    Bahria Town Phase 7 page
  • Bahria Town Phase 8

The second branch is on the 1st floor of Burj Ul Sadiq, Plaza No 1, Abu Baker Avenue — the closest for Safari Valley and the Business District.

    Bahria Town Phase 8 page
  • Bahria Town Phase 4 & Civic Center

The Civic Center end has no shortage of commercial gyms. What it does not have is coached boxing on a fixed timetable, which is why Phase 4 members make the short run across.

  • Bahria Town Phase 1, 2 & 3

The Islamabad Expressway side. Phase 7 is the usual choice from here, and the 24-hour floor is what makes the trip workable around a commute.

  • Bahria Town Phase 5 & 6

Well placed for the evening class timetable at either branch, and for the ladies-only daytime window.

  • Islamabad

Phase 7 is the Islamabad-side address and the one most members coming from the city use. If you are searching for a boxing club in Islamabad, this is the branch to aim at.

  • Rawalpindi

Phase 8 sits on the Rawalpindi side of Bahria Town. Both branches are inside Bahria Town, so the run from the Pindi side stays off the main city roads.

Choosing a club

How we compare to other boxing clubs in Islamabad

There are a few genuinely good boxing clubs in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and if one of them is five minutes from your house and this is forty, go to that one. Consistency beats everything else in a combat sport, and the club you actually attend is the better club.

What is worth driving for is the combination: a coach who corrects you mid-round, a competing squad that sets the standard in the room, a fixed evening timetable so training is a habit rather than a decision, a floor that is open at any hour on all six open days, and published fees. Clubs in this region usually have two or three of those. Having all of them in the same place is the argument.

What we are not is a large commercial chain. There is no pool, no sauna and no app. The money goes into coaching and equipment, and if a spa is what you want from a membership we are the wrong choice and would rather say so now.

The other honest caveat is Sunday. We are closed on Sunday, all day, both branches. If Sunday is your only free day, this club will not work for you.

Questions

Boxing club — frequently asked

Is there a boxing club near me in Bahria Town?
Yes — two, both ours and both inside Bahria Town. Phase 7 is at the 2nd floor, Wallayat Complex, Emirates Plaza, on the Islamabad side. Phase 8 is at the 1st floor, Burj Ul Sadiq, Plaza No 1, Abu Baker Avenue, on the Rawalpindi side. Your membership covers both.
What does the boxing club cost?
The boxing public class is Rs 10,000 a month, with a one-off Rs 20,000 registration fee. The MMA public class is the same. A one-to-one Personal Class is Rs 30,000 a month. Gym floor membership is separate and starts at Rs 4,500 a month. Rates are identical at both branches.
When does the boxing class run?
Boxing runs 6:00 to 7:00 pm, six days a week, closed on Sunday. Karate is 5:00 to 6:00 pm and MMA is 8:00 to 9:00 pm. The gym floor itself is open 24 hours a day on all six open days.
I have never boxed before. Can I join?
Yes, and that is the normal case. You start on stance, guard and footwork along with every other beginner, and you throw very little for the first few weeks. No fitness base and no background are needed.
Do I need my own gloves and wraps?
Not to start. Come in trainers with a t-shirt and water, see whether the club suits you, and buy your own kit once you know you are staying. Ask the coaches what to buy before you spend anything.
Will I have to spar?
No. Sparring is supervised, controlled and only offered once your defence holds up — and plenty of members train for the fitness and the skill and never spar at all. Nobody is put in against their will or before they are ready.
Is there a boxing club for girls or women?
Yes. Women train in the evening class, there is a women’s squad that competes and medals, the gym floor has a ladies-only window 11:00 am to 5:00 pm six days a week, and the Phase 8 branch has a female coach on its team.
Do you offer a boxing personal trainer or one-to-one coaching?
Yes — the Personal Class, Rs 30,000 a month, built entirely around you and arranged around your hours rather than the class timetable. Some members use it for a few months to fix fundamentals and then move into the group class.
Do you do kickboxing, MMA or martial arts as well?
MMA runs as a public class 8:00 to 9:00 pm and karate 5:00 to 6:00 pm, both six days a week, both Rs 10,000 a month on the same registration terms. Striking work overlaps heavily with the boxing class. Message us about any other discipline before assuming it runs — we would rather tell you no than have you arrive for something we do not teach.
Can I watch a class before I pay?
Yes. Come and stand at the side of a 6:00 pm class for the full hour. Message on WhatsApp first so somebody is expecting you and can answer questions afterwards.
Which branch should I go to?
Whichever is the shorter run at the hour you train. Phase 7 is the main branch and the larger floor; Phase 8 is closer for the Safari Valley and Business District side. Same coaching standard, same equipment, same rates, and you can switch whenever you like.
How old do you have to be?
Teenagers train here, including in the self-defence work, and younger members follow the same no-sparring-until-ready progression. Message us with the age before joining so the right coach and the right class are arranged.
Are you open on Sunday?
No. Both branches are closed all day Sunday, and there is no boxing class on Sunday. Everything else runs six days a week.
Do you have a boxing ring?
The club trains on bags, pads and open floor, and bouts are fought at competitions rather than on our premises. If a ring on site is what you are specifically looking for, ask on WhatsApp before travelling.

If you have read this far you are probably deciding between us and one other club, or deciding whether to start at all. For the second one, the answer is to come and watch an hour of a 6:00 pm class, which costs nothing and settles it.

Message on WhatsApp with the branch that is nearer and whether you have boxed before. You will get a straight answer about which evening to come, what it costs including the registration fee, and who to ask for when you arrive.
